Subwoofer Dvc
Which DVC subwoofer should I buy? The one with 2ohm or 4ohm?
I currently have an Alpine MRD M605 amplifier which provides 600rms (at 2ohm i think). I want to hook up only one sub to it as i dont have that much space to spare in the trunk. I am looking to buy the 10″ Kicker L7 which requires 600rms. But i am not sure about which variant to buy, the 2ohm or the 4ohm.
If the kicker is dual 4 ohm when wired parallel it will require 600 watts RMS @ 2Ohms. Perfect for your amp. If you get the dual 2 it will need 600 watts @ 1ohm, which could work your amp too hard, causing it to overheat and go into protection mode. Or worse it will cause distortion and damage the subwoofer.
